Ready to go!

Just four more days! I can’t wait to leave. We raised the required amount of charity money, even a little bit more, a total sum of 1047.89£. A great thanks to all our sponsors!

After lots of trouble with our previous purchase, we have a seemingly quite trustworthy car now (even though Siegfried broke down on his way to work with a clogged fuel filter this morning). The car even passed it’s TÜV (german roadworthiness certificate) inspection on monday.

We got our passports through all the embassies, and have all the necessary visas. I just had my master thesis printed, and I’ll hand it in tomorrow. So we’re pretty much well and set to go. The plan is to leave for Prague on saturday, then hook up with the other rally teams there for the party on sunday, and proceed eastwards for unknown waters on monday morning.

We’ll try to keep this blog updated, but that basically depends on the availability of wireless internet access points on the way. We’ll find out about that. The rally organizers also provide a text message blog service, so when there is no internet availability there might be some SMS updates on our Mongol Rally Team page.
